The dermalogica cleanser that does it all

The dirt on cleansing - dermalogica new oil to foam cleanser
We are excited to bring you a new product from dermalogica! The Oil to Foam Total Cleanser is an all-in-one cleanser that removes make-up and sunscreen while also cleansing skin, leaving it feeling instantly soft and smooth.
What is this new all-in-one cleanser, and who is it suitable for?
As pioneers of the Double Cleanse, we believe the secret to ultra-clean, healthy-looking skin is cleansing twice: first with an oil-based cleanser, than with a traditional cleanser. However, we know our customers want options when it comes to their skin care routine, they want time-saving products that work twice as hard, twice as fast. That’s why we developed Oil to Foam Total Cleanser. This all-in-one cleanser removes make-up and sunscreen while also cleansing the skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. The formula starts as a golden gel oil that melts away layers of make-up, sebum (oil), sunscreen, and debris, then transforms with a splash of water into a rich cloud-like foam to wash away any remaining impurities quickly. If you don’t double cleanse, use make-up remover wipes, or prefer a ‘skinimalist regimen, this may be the cleanser for you.
How often should we be cleansing our skin?
Having clean skin is the foundation of healthy skin. Our skin is an organ of elimination, excreting waste and toxins, shedding dead skin cells, and secreting oils, and sweat. Skin gets filthy with the addition of dirt, bacteria and pollutants building up through the day. Add skin care products, SPF and make-up to this mix and the need to cleanse skin thoroughly becomes obvious. Our skin is also very busy through the night, repairing and excreting waste, so cleansing the skin in the morning and evening is advised for healthy skin function.
Why is an oil-based cleanser recommended removing make-up?
In science, like attracts like, meaning an oil-based cleansing formula is more effective at lifting oily debris off the skin compared to a traditional water-based cleanser – think face washes or milky cleansers. Make-up contains a lot of oil-based ingredients and long-stay, or waterproof make-up is hard to budge with a traditional cleanser. Interestingly, sunscreen and pollution particles are also oil-based, thus benefit from an oil-based cleanser to thoroughly lift and remove them from the skin. Look for cleansing oils that use plant-based oils over synthetic oils, as they condition and moisturise the skin at the same time and can be rinsed away without leaving an oily residue.
Can you cleanse the skin too much?
Yes! Skin only needs to be cleansed twice a day, but some cleansing products strip away essential moisture from the skin's protective barrier, which can lead to irritation, dryness, and breakouts. As a rule, if your skin feels tight or dry after cleansing, the product may be too stripping for your skin. Cleansers should be acid balanced to the skin’s pH (pH 4-6) to avoid disturbing the skins' barrier. It is possible to deeply cleanse the skin without compromising skin health. All Dermalogica cleansers are acid-balanced and cleanse whilst treating the skin and enhancing surface moisture levels, leaving skin feeling clean yet conditioned.
Should everyone double-cleanse their skin every day?
Ideally, yes, as a double cleanse is the gold standard for truly clean and healthy skin. Use a pre-cleanse product to lift make-up, dirt, pollutants, and sunscreen, then follow with a cleanser specific to your skin condition. Do this every morning and every evening for best results. However, if your budget or lifestyle doesn’t suit a two-product double cleanse routine or for times when you’re time starved or travelling, Oil to Foam Total Cleanser is a brilliant alternative offering a thorough cleanse and make-up removal in one formula.
What ingredient technology is in Oil to Foam Total Cleanser?
Oil to Foam Total Cleanser is a dual-phase formula, starting out as a gel-oil consistency which allows the gentle lipid-based surfactants to adhere to make-up, oil, sunscreen, and pollutants before adding water where the cleanser transform into a cloud-like foam. After rinsing away, skin is left clean, soft, and smooth. The golden tone of this cleanser comes from Sea Buckthorn Oil Rich in Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Phyto-Antioxidants.in addition, a plant-derived prebiotic (Saccharide Isomerate) works like a moisture magnet, boosting skin’s hydration and preventing skin dryness, even after washing off.
How do I use Oil to Foam Total Cleanser?
Slightly dampen your face and dispense a small amount of Oil to Foam Total Cleanser into your palms. Massage the gel-oil over face and eyes to dissolve surface oil and dirt. Wet your hands and continue massaging to create a foam to lift away make-up, sebum, and sunscreen. Rinse with warm water then follow with your toner and moisturiser.
Can one cleanse really remove all make-up, dirt, and sunscreen?
Yes, and we have the clinical study results to prove it!
