  • 100% Irish

We are 100% Irish Owned and operated and are proud to be one of the largest independent pharmacies in Ireland. dPharmacy is the online store of O’Flynns Pharmacy and is directly linked to the store as we carry the same stock online as in-store. With a huge range of top-selling brands, we constantly and consistently carry out price comparisons to ensure that we offer the lowest prices online and in-store both in Ireland and the UK.

  • Our Responsibility

We are very aware of our Corporate Social Responsibility. We work to pay our way, to keep Giving a bit back. 10% of all revenue goes straight to Charity (and always has). Currently, we are actively supporting Ukrainians who have fled the war to Ireland with housing and employment opportunities.

1920

Helena OFlynn moved to Ardee and worked in Druggist Steven Carney.

1928

Helena set up on her own in what is currently Ardee Bookstore. A unique character she rode a motorbike, set up her own business as a single woman, and has a big personality to match.

1939

She purchased the Medical Hall from the widow of the Druggist James McCutcheon. She & her husband, Michael, raised three children (and a huge number of dogs).

1953

The medical card was introduced in 1953 but was very limited, making up top-secret mixtures was the mainstay of the business.

1967

On a Saturday after work, Lena died suddenly. Colman (a Pharmacist), his wife Florrie, and their four children (and dog Tip) moved back to Ardee to leave their mark on the business.

1960-1970

The late 1960s / early 1970s was a dark economic period. It was a period of strikes & the oil crisis and unemployment was high. It was impossible to get a loan, but eventually, Colman got £100 from the bank and was able to buy enough stock to remain profitable.

1970

The Bank Strike made the business. For 6 months cheques (and later IOUs) could be written but not cashed by suppliers. With most customers paying cash & a credit line they grew their business. Colman recalls having a box of IOUs from farmers and the fact that only one didn’t honour these notes.

1975

They expanded the store in 1975 & introduced a computer in 1981 (a super brain). The growth of medical care and the easing of the 1973 recession meant the business grew from strength to strength.

1996

Colman's daughter Ann OFlynn qualified & bought the business from Colman & Florrie. Colman continued to work part-time until 87 years old. Ann’s impact could be seen in her emphasis on prescription and the shift to skincare & beauty.

2006

Ann went into partnership with IPOS which lasted until 2013 when she opened her current premises.

2015

In 2015 O’Flynns expanded further and opened a laser skin clinic & launched our website dPharmacy.ie

2016

2016 marked the start of our vaccination and testing services. We now offer online skin consults, face mapping, premium skincare, and a huge range of supplements. In-store, we have drug testing. Our laser clinic is open 5 days a week and our Store is open 364 days a year.

2020

With the pandemic spreading across the globe, we had a major shift within the business. Our website grew at a rapid pace, and we took part in the vaccination programme to administer covid vaccinations to the local community and beyond. We are still serving the community offering booster vaccines, fit to fly tests for travel as well as annual flu vaccinations.

2021

In 2021 Coleman reluctantly stepped down from the business in his 90th year. With the pandemic still at the forefront of the world, we worked hard to provide all our customers both local and nationally with medication, vitamins, skincare, and anything else they needed during this time.

2022

In 2022 we launched our website with a brand-new look. We expanded the team and have been working tirelessly to provide Ireland with everything they need from our doorstep to theirs. We look forward to the story continuing.
