Skincare for Dehydrated Skin

What is dehydrated skin, and how can I treat it?
Dehydrated skin means your skin is lacking moisture (water). Dehydrated skin can feel dry and appear dull, leaving you with an uneven skin tone and complexion. The good news is, it can be easily rectified.
Dehydrated can sometimes be mistaken for dry skin, although they are similar, they are also quite different. Dehydrated skin is temporary and is usually fixed with some lifestyle changes and the right product knowledge.

What are the signs of dehydrated skin?
The first tell-tale sign of skin dehydration is dullness and loss of the skin's natural glow. There may also be increased visible fine lines and wrinkles. The skin may also feel tight and irritated.
Looking after dehydrated skin.
When our skin is feeling and looking dehydrated, a few simple steps accompanied by a good skincare routine that will bring your skin back to life:
- Keep your body hydrated, try to drink 2 liters of water a day, and also try to reduce the amount of caffeine and alcohol that you consume. Eat your water; this means eat vitamin-rich food, oranges, cucumber, and watermelon, etc. Theses will help hydrate the body from within.
- Our lifestyle can also be a significant contributing factor, how regular we exercise, and how much sleep we get will also be a factor.

Skincare tip for dehydrated skin.
- Use a gentle cream cleanser; this will feel soothing on the skin; this should be the first step in restoring the skin's hydration. Dermalogica's Intensive Moisture Balance cleanser or Trilogy Cream Cleanser's, are two very gentle and hydration cleansers that won't strip the skin of its natural oils and will help relieve tightness and irritation that can be associated with dehydrated skin.
- Use a gentle exfoliator to help remove dead skin cells on the skin; this will help the skin look brighter and more vibrant. The most popular gentle exofliator's are Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant, and Trilogy's Vitamin C polishing powder.
- Use a hyaluronic serum; the hyaluronic acid will help penetrate all the different layers of skin, helping to bring moisture(water) to the surface of the skin, causing a plumping effect. Image Ageless Total Pure Hyaluronic Acid that will help boost the skin and help provide the skin with that much-needed moisture.
- Use a rich textured moisturiser, and this will help push your serum even deeper into the skin, helping to maintain and enhance the moisture content of your skin. Dermalogica's Active Moist moisturiser would be perfect for this, or Intensive Moisture Balance.
- Use a hydrating mist toner, and keep it handy to reapply through the day, most of these mist toners can now be applied over your make up and help keep the skin hydrated. ( I swear by this, I love a good mist) I would highly recommend using Murad's Hydration Hydrating Toner, or Dermaloigca's Multi-Active Toner.
