Benylin Dry Cough helps to suppress the coughing mechanism reducing the urge to cough. It features Diphenhydramine a type of medicine called a sedating antihistamine, Dextromethorphan which blocks the cough reflex in situations where the cough serves no purpose and Levomenthol a mild cooling decongestant that helps soothe a cough and ease congestion in the nasal passages and lungs. A dry cough is known as a non-productive cough because it does not produce any phlegm. Dry coughs are caused by an inflammation of the upper airways caused by dust, foreign bodies or infection.

Directions for use:

Adults and children over 12 years: 1 x 10ml dose, up to 3-4 times a day. Do not exceed a maximum daily dose of 40ml.

Warnings:

Not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

Do not use if allergic to the active ingredients. Do not use in people who are currently receiving or have within two weeks received. monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) Not to be used in people at risk of severe breathing problems (respiratory failure). Not suitable for people with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Not to be used in people with a condition called bronchiolitis, which is inflammation of the smallest air passages in the lungs (bronchioles). Prolonged use without medical supervision may be harmful. If symptoms persist, please consult your doctor or pharmacist. Keep medicines out of the reach of children. Do not exceed the stated dose.

Ingredients:

Each 5 ml contains diphenhydramine hydrochloride 14 mg, levomenthol 2 mg and dextromethorphan hydrobromide 6.5 mg.
