Carbosan 2 Gel 5G

Carbosan Gel is used for the treatment of lip sores and mouth ulcers.

It contains a medicine called carbenoxolone sodium, which has properties that are anti-diuretic and anti-inflammatory. It works by enhancing the production of protective mucous in the mouth. It should not be used if you are allergic to carbenoxolone sodium or any of the other ingredients in this medicine, if you suffer from any severe heart, liver or kidney complaints, if you suffer from high blood pressure, if are under 3 years old or elderly or if you have a low level of albumin (protein) in your blood, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if are on medication for a heart condition.

Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Carbosan

If an infection is present, you may also need an antibiotic.

If symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks, consult your doctor. Other medicines and Carbosan Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription

Do not use if

you are on medication for the treatment of heart problems

Pregnant and breast-feeding Carbosan should not be used during pregnancy or lactation. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine

How to use Carbosan

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Adults and Children, over 3 years of age: This product is to be used on your lips and on ulcers in your mouth only. At the first signs of symptoms you should apply the Gel thickly to the mouth lesions after meals and at bedtime
