    Vollagen is the patented amino acid complex that gives all 18 amino acids found in the Collagen protein. It is made through fermentation of non-GMO corn. As collagen declines with age it is great to have a vegan option to top up levels.

    How Vollagen Works

    1. Supplying Collagen Amino Acids

    This is not marine or bovine collagen. It is a vegan amino acid complex designed to give the body the main amino acids found in collagen.

    Collagen has a very specific amino acid pattern. It is rich in glycine, proline and hydroxyproline. These are heavily used in skin, hair, nails, joints, tendons, ligaments, bones and blood vessels.

    In simple terms, it gives the body collagen-type raw materials without using fish, bovine or animal collagen.

    2. Helping the Body Build Its Own Collagen

    The body does not just “use collagen” straight from a capsule. It has to make collagen inside cells.

    • Cells such as fibroblasts in the skin and chondrocytes in cartilage use amino acids to build new collagen chains.

    How Hyaluronic Acid Works

    Taking Hyaluronic acid Supplements doesn't just supply the HA to your Skin (Joints, Eyes etc) for it to use. It works in two ways:

    1. HA fragments are absorbed and used directly to hold water in skin and all connective tissue (even you eyes feel brighter!)
    2. HA also actually triggers to the body to make  more HA naturally. HA fragments may bind to CD44 receptors on fibroblasts, triggering pathways such as TGF-β/Smad, MAPK/ERK and HAS2 activity, which are involved in making the skin’s own hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin.     How Matcha Works

    Simple Explanation: matcha is in this formula to help protect collagen from oxidative damage. It is not the main collagen-building ingredient. Vollagen gives the amino acid building blocks, while matcha helps reduce the background damage that can age skin faster.

    The more long winded explanation is:

    1. Matcha acts as an Antioxidant

    They act as antioxidants in two ways. 

    They neutralise free radicals: Matcha contains catechins, especially EGCG, which work as antioxidants. They neutralise free radicals before they damage skin and joint cells.

    They Reduce MMP activity: Over time, free radicals  can trigger enzymes called MMPs, especially MMP-1, which break down collagen in the skin and joints. EGCG helps reduce this oxidative stress and may help quieten collagen-breaking pathways, including MMP activity and inflammatory signalling such as NF-κB.

    2. Matcha makes more Antioxidants

    Matcha catechins also activate the Nrf2 pathway. This is one of the body’s own cell-protection systems. When Nrf2 is switched on, the body makes more antioxidant enzymes such as glutathione-related enzymes, superoxide dismutase and catalase.

    How Rosehip Works

    Simple Explanation: Rosehip is packed with GOPO. These helps calm joint irritation, while vitamin C (also in Rosehip) helps the body make stronger collagen for cartilage, bones and connective tissue.

    Long Winded explanation:

    Rosehip is better studied than many customers realise, especially for joints and stiffness. Its key actives are galactolipid GOPO and vitamin C.

    1. GOPO helps calm inflammatory signalling around worn or stiff joints. It appears to reduce neutrophil chemotaxis, meaning fewer inflammatory white blood cells are drawn into the joint area. This helps lower some of the chemical signals that can irritate cartilage cells, called chondrocytes.
    2. Vitamin C (contained in Rosehip) works differently. It helps the body build strong collagen by acting as a cofactor for prolyl hydroxylase and lysyl hydroxylase, enzymes needed to make stable collagen fibres.
