Atlantic Aromatics Original Camomile German is a pre-diluted
essential oil made from Matricaria recutita, also known as German chamomile. It
is steam distilled from the flower heads and then diluted in jojoba oil, making
it suitable for direct skin use. This oil has a deep blue colour dilution with
a rich, herbal scent.
Uses of German Chamomile Oil in Jojoba
German chamomile has been used for generations when people are upset, rather than overstretched. This diluted oil is often used:
- In the evening, after a long or emotional day. It’s a
baby blanket for adults.
- When irritability feels hard to shake, and
you need to self-soothe (without wine).
- As part of a nighttime routine to help mark the end of the
day. A handy add-on for sleep hygiene (which works)
- On pulse points, when you want steadying rather than calming.
- When a neat essential oil feels too strong or is too messy to use.
- It calms irritated or sensitive skin.
- It can be used in homemade skincare preparations.
What Atlantic Aromatics German Chamomile Smells Like
It smells warm, deep, and herbal, with a slightly sweet note
underneath. The smell is fuller and heavier than lavender, with an earthy
quality that feels reassuring rather than light or floral.
If it were a song, it would be Naked As We
Came by Iron & Wine. It's soft,
gentle and unhurried, with a quiet warmth that feels settled and reassuring. A
hassle dissolver.
While this oil is not used often in perfumery, it does
appear in small amounts in fragrances such as Chanel No.19, Guerlain Chamade,
and older versions of Penhaligon’s Bluebell. It is included to add a
soft herbal warmth that settles the overall scent rather than
standing out on its own.
How German Chamomile Essential Oil Works
When applied to the skin and inhaled, the scent is detected
by the nose and processed by the limbic system, the part of the brain involved
in emotion and stress response.
From there, signals are passed to the autonomic nervous
system, which manages automatic functions such as breathing and heart rate.
German chamomile tends to slow the overall pace rather than
sharpen it, which is why it is usually chosen for evenings or quieter moments.
It works on the Parasympathetic part of the ANS. Because it is diluted in
jojoba, the scent is released slowly and feels gentle over time rather than
immediately.
Who German Chamomile in Jojoba Is Best For
This essential oil is for:
- People who feel easily irritated or emotionally raw. When every person you meet has picked that day to wreck your
head.
- Those who prefer warm, herbal scents over citrus or floral
notes (background diffuser oil).
- Evening or nighttime routines that are part of a sleep
hygiene practice.
- Anyone who wants an oil that is ready to apply without
mixing. It can be used on the go as well as in a diffuser.
When Not to Use German Chamomile in Jojoba
- Pregnancy and young
children (always use essential oils with caution in these groups, as they have
hypersensitive noses and take a dislike to even the lightest of scents).
- Do not apply to broken or irritated skin
- Stop using it if your skin feels uncomfortable
- For external use only and keep out of reach of children
German Vs French Chamomile Oil
These oils come from different plants and are used slightly
differently in aromatherapy. German chamomile has a deeper, heavier, more
herbaceous smell and is often chosen when things feel intense or emotionally
loaded. French chamomile is lighter, softer, and more apple-like, and is
usually preferred when a gentler, milder scent is wanted, especially for
everyday or family use.
Oil Combinations with German Chamomile Oil
This essential oil blends well with oils that keep the overall feel gentle and grounded.
- Lavender works well when evenings feel unsettled, but
familiar comfort is needed. This combination is often used in bedrooms or
during wind-down routines, such as reading or watching television before bed. Great when the aim is to soften the edge of the day rather than switch off
completely. There is something about lavender that seems to bring us all back
in time, like it’s an old, distant memory.
- Frankincense adds depth and steadiness and is often chosen
during quiet moments alone, such as sitting with a cup of tea, journaling, or
slow stretching. It suits spaces where things feel heavy and a sense of
containment is needed.
- Rose brings warmth and emotional softness and is often used
on days that have felt emotionally demanding. This blend suits private spaces
such as bedrooms or bathrooms, especially during self-care routines where
reassurance matters more than freshness. It adds a touch of romance and
femininity to any space.
- Mandarin adds a gentle citrus lift that keeps the blend from feeling too heavy. It works well earlier in the evening, for example, after getting home from work or during a calm family evening, when the mood needs to be relaxed.
Atlantic Aromatics Original Camomile German 16% in
Jojoba Bulgaria is a gentle, ready-to-use oil suited for evenings. With its warm, herbal scent and slow release on the skin, it is often
used when emotions feel heightened, making it a natural fit for everyday use.
This oil is pre-diluted in jojoba and is intended mainly for direct skin use rather than diffusers.
Skin application
Apply 1–2 drops directly to clean skin where soothing is needed, such as areas that feel irritated. Because it is already diluted, it is suitable for use on delicate areas like the face, neck, or décolletage.
Targeted soothing
Use a small amount on patches of redness, itchiness, or skin that feels hot or easily triggered. This is a common choice when the skin is stressed rather than dry or damaged.
Massage or body care
Apply a few drops to shoulders, arms, or legs as part of a calming massage. This works well when physical tension and emotional stress overlap, especially at the end of a long day.
Abdominal use
Massage gently over the abdomen in a clockwise motion when emotional tension seems to sit in the stomach. The jojoba base makes it suitable for this type of gentle, supportive use.
Bedtime routine
Apply one drop to pulse points or the upper chest as part of an evening wind-down routine. This is often used when restlessness is linked to emotional overload rather than excess energy.
Diffuser use
This product is not recommended for diffusers, as the jojoba carrier oil does not disperse properly. For diffuser use, a neat German chamomile essential oil should be used instead.
For external use only.
Avoid contact with eyes.
Although pre-diluted and suitable for sensitive skin, a patch test is still recommended.
