This is a highly aromatic extract obtained from the delicate white flowers of the Jasminum officinale plant, traditionally from India and Egypt. Unlike steam-distilled essential oils, this oil is made as an absolute. This means it is a deeply rich, floral scent with warm, sensual undertones. Its like the steam-distilled on steroids. It takes thousands of jasmine flowers to produce a small amount of absolute, which is why itis one of the most precious and concentrated essential oils available.
Uses of Atlantic Aromatics Jasmine Absolute Oil
This flower oil has a long history of use in
perfumery and aromatherapy. It is one of the main notes in Chanel No. 5,
Dior J’adore, Guerlain Shalimar and Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge. In modern aromatherapy, it is used to give:
- Emotional comfort during periods of stress, upset or sadness.
- Confidence and emotional openness when you feel withdrawn or low
- Relaxation without heaviness or sedation
What Jasmine Absolute Oil Smells Like
It's just beautiful. This oil smells rich and deeply floral with a
warm, sweet, and slightly animalic undertone. It has far more depth and complexity than light
or fresh floral scents. If it were a person it would be the prettiest girl in school.
If it were a song, this oil would be Wicked Game by Chris
Isaak. Its rich, sensual, and emotionally intense.
How Atlantic Aromatics Jasmine Absolute Oil Works
When inhaled, its rich aromatic molecules trigger the
olfactory receptors to signal the limbic system. This is the part of the brain
involved in emotion, memory, and stress processing, including structures such
as the amygdala and hippocampus.
The limbic system communicates with the hypothalamus, which
links scent signals to the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS controls
unconscious functions such as heart rate, breathing, digestion, and stress
responses, and includes two pathways: the sympathetic nervous system (alertness
and activation) and the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and recovery).
This oil affects both systems, easing emotional tension
while keeping mental clarity and alertness. It does not cause heaviness or
sedation.
Because jasmine absolute is highly concentrated, even small
amounts can create a pleasant emotional effect. It gives comfort, emotional reassurance, and a sense of quiet support.
Who Atlantic Aromatics Jasmine Absolute Is Best For
It is a beautiful oil for:
- Those who feel emotionally low or disconnected
- People affected by stress that affects their mood or self-confidence
- Those who appreciate rich, floral aromas with depth (i.e. people with noses)
- Prefer oils suited to evening use or quiet personal rituals
- Want an oil that feels nurturing rather than stimulating
Due to its intensity and cost, jasmine absolute is best used sparingly.
When Not to Use Jasmine Absolute
- Always dilute before applying to the skin
- Not recommended during pregnancy unless extra diluted.
- Avoid use if you dislike strong floral aromas
- Use sparingly, as the aroma can feel overwhelming in excess
- For external use only and keep out of reach of children
Jasmine Absolute vs Jasmine Dilution
This essential oil is highly concentrated with a deep,
intense scent. It is usually used in very small amounts. Pre-diluted jasmine
products offer a less fragrant, more cost-effective option for regular use.
Oil Combinations with Jasmine Absolute
Used as a standalone oil, it is gorgeous, but it can be
blended with other oils to create blends which have a different emotional
impact. Popular mixes include:
Rose deepens emotional warmth and nurturing; this blend is often chosen for comfort and reassurance. Use for intimate self-care rituals, emotional healing moments, or times when deep comfort – long soaks, early nights alone. These are the two queens of essential oils.
- Sandalwood adds grounding and softness; helpful when emotions feel intense or unsettled. Ideal for evening reflection or meditation, or to recover from intense emotional stress. It’s a great upstairs blend.
- Bergamot introduces gentle uplift and brightness. For low-mood days, creative spaces, or when you need a gentle, happy lift.
- Frankincense supports calm reflection and steadiness; often used in quiet, restorative blends. This is a perfect blend for quiet evenings, meditation and when you want to clear your thoughts.
- Sweet Orange softens the floral intensity of jasmine, creating a more comforting smell. Use in bedrooms or living spaces when warmth
and relaxation are wanted.
Diffusion
Use a very small amount, as jasmine absolute is highly concentrated. Add a tiny drop to a diffuser or oil burner, ideally blended with citrus or floral oils.
Personal inhalation
Place a trace amount on a tissue and inhale gently. This is often used during moments of stress, low mood or when you want instant comfort.
Topical use (always diluted)
Jasmine absolute must be well-diluted before putting it on your skin. Use no more than 1 drop in 10 ml of carrier oil for adults. It is often applied to the wrists, neck or lower abdomen in blends for comfort or as a natural perfume. Avoid facial use.
Massage and perfume blends
Jasmine absolute is frequently included at very low levels in massage and natural perfume blends, where its rich, exotic scent adds depth and softness. A little goes a very long way.
