Turmeric Madagascar Oil is steam distilled from the rhizome of Curcuma longa grown in Madagascar. It smells quite different from turmeric used in cooking, with a drier, woodier smell than expected. It is used for its warm, earthy aroma and its grounding, centring qualities. A great base to use with light (and flightly) citrus and floral oils.

Uses of Original Turmeric Madagascar Oil

    It is used for:

    • Creating a sense of steadiness during busy or unsettled periods
    • Giving emotional balance when feeling overstretched or mentally scattered
    • Adding warmth and depth to your home
    • Encouraging calm focus during slow, steady tasks
    • Use in diluted body or massage oils for comforting effect

How Atlantic Aromatics Turmeric Madagascar Oil Works

When inhaled, this oil triggers nasal receptors that send signals to the limbic system, the part of the brain involved in emotion, memory, and stress regulation. This includes areas such as the amygdala and hippocampus. These signals are linked with feelings of steadiness, warmth, and grounded awareness rather than sharp mental stimulation.

The limbic system then communicates with the autonomic nervous system, which controls automatic bodily functions. This system includes the sympathetic nervous system, linked with alertness and “fight or flight,” and the parasympathetic nervous system, associated with rest, digestion, and repair.

Turmeric essential oil increases parasympathetic activity, helping reduce sympathetic overactivation and gives a calmer internal state.

When used topically (in proper dilution), turmeric oil gives a warming, comforting sensation on the skin. Its active ingredients, including turmerones, are used for their soothing and anti-inflammatory effects.

What Atlantic Aromatics Turmeric Oil Smells Like

This oil smells warm, spicy, and earthy with a rich, slightly peppery undertone. It has a deep scent that is more herbal and robust than sweet. It is subtle but persistent.

It is used in niche skincare and body care to o add a warm, earthy, spicy depth and because it contains turmerones with anti-inflammatory activity. It is also used for soothing irritated or stressed skin.

If turmeric oil were a song, it would be Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. It is deep, earthy, slightly darkly spicy, and slow-burning.
