This essential oil is beauty in a bottle. It is a carefully prepared blend of precious rose otto oil diluted, making it gentle and ready to use. Rose otto is steam distilled from the petals of Rosa Damascena from Bulgaria. It is one of the most valued oils in aromatherapy. This dilution offers the rich, floral warmth of rose in a softer, more affordable form.
Uses of Atlantic Aromatics Rose Otto Bulgaria Oil
This oil has been treasured for centuries and is used to support:
- Emotional comfort
during periods of stress, sadness or sensitivity
- A sense of calm
reassurance and steadiness
- Feelings of warmth,
self-care and romance
- Balance and steadiness during times of change or transition
- Hydration and comfort in homemade skincare products. You can also use pre-made rose water products.
What Rose Otto Bulgaria Oil Smells Like
It smells soft, fresh, and (gently) floral, with a light rosy sweetness, subtle green notes, and a clean, airy quality that feels delicate, comforting, and much less intense than full-strength rose otto.
It is used in many perfumes because it gives a soft, natural rose aroma that feels warm and elegant. It is in Chanel No. 5, Dior J’adore, and Guerlain Nahema, to name a few.
If it were a song, it would be “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack. This is because it is tender, slow, simple and soft.
How Rose Otto (Bulgaria) Oil Works
When inhaled, the soft aroma of rose otto activates nasal receptors that send signals to the limbic system, the part of the brain involved in emotion, memory, and stress regulation, including the amygdala, hippocampus, and hypothalamus.
The limbic system then communicates with the autonomic nervous system, which includes the sympathetic nervous system (alertness and stress response) and the parasympathetic nervous system (calm and recovery).
Rose Otto gently increases parasympathetic activity, helping the body feel safe, soothed, and settled. Because this essential oil is diluted, its effect is very gentle and gradual, making it ideal for people who are sensitive to smells and can be used for regular everyday support.
When to Use Rose Otto (Bulgaria) Oil with Caution
- For external use only
- Avoid use if you
dislike floral aromas
- Discontinue use if
skin irritation occurs
- Keep out of reach of children
Rose Otto Bulgaria Oil vs Rose Absolute Oil
Rose Otto has a lighter, fresher floral scent compared to rose absolute, which is more concentrated, deeper and richer.
Oil Combinations with Rose Otto Bulgaria Oil
This oil is perfect on its own, but also blends well with oils that give emotional comfort and balance:
- Frankincense adds steadiness. This blend is often chosen for times when you feel emotionally shaky or uncertain,
such as after difficult news or during big life decisions
- Lavender gives calm and relaxation. This blend is useful when stress and sensitivity overlap. Use when you need a good cry, on evenings when nerves feel frayed, and emotions sit close to the surface, this blend brings calm without dulling feelings.
- Sandalwood deepens the warmth and emotional security of Rose. It is suitable for quiet self-care moments. It's perfect for slow, private moments such as a warm bath or early bedtime (a "tea and toast" in bed feeling).
- Bergamot introduces a gentle uplift. Think of it as a blend for low or heavy days when you want comfort but also a small lift, like easing sadness without forcing cheerfulness.
- Geranium helps with emotional harmony. This blend is often used when your emotions are up and down without a clear reason, such as during hormonal changes or when you are overworked.
Diffusion
Use 1–2 drops in a diffuser, either on its own or blended with gentle oils such as bergamot or lavender.
Personal inhalation
Place 1 drop on a tissue and inhale gently for a few breaths.
Topical use (always diluted)
Rose otto must be diluted before skin use. Use 1 drop in 10 ml of carrier oil for adults. It is often applied to the wrists, neck or chest in blends intended for emotional support or skin comfort. Avoid facial use unless professionally formulated or you have knowledge of essential oils.
Skincare and massage blends
Used at very low levels in skincare and massage blends, because of its gentle, balancing character, it is often included in products designed for sensitive or mature skin.
Do not use undiluted on the skin.
