    Benefits of Marine Collagen

While this product has many ingredients which help with joint stiffness it contains 5000mg of Marine collagen which:

    1. It helps skin look fresher, smoother and firmer, especially when taken every day.
    2. It improves dry or creepy looking skin, helping it look fresher, less flat and more plump.
    3. It reduces the look of fine lines, especially when lines are linked with dryness and lower collagen levels.
    4. It gives hair key amino acids, making hair feel stronger, healthier, shinier and less prone to snapping.
    5. It helps nails grow stronger, break less and hold length better.
    6. It is used when joints feel creaky, stiff or worn from age, exercise or everyday use, because collagen is needed for cartilage, tendons and ligaments.

Collagen levels naturally fall with age, sun damage, smoking, alcohol, stress, high sugar, poor sleep and low protein intake can speed this up.

For best results, collagen needs to be taken daily and given time. It is a long-term supplement, not a quick fix.

    How Marine Collagen Works

    1. Getting Collagen Absorbed

The problem with collagen supplements is that they need to have a small enough molecular size to get to your cells.

Eating fish or meat gives the body large intact proteins that digestion dismantles into a number of amino acids. They may not end up in the body as collagen.

Hydrolysed means that the collagen peptides are broken into very small absorbable fragments. These survive digestion and appear in the bloodstream.

    2. Triggers Collagen Production

Once absorbed, these fragments act as signalling molecules that stimulate

    • fibroblasts in the skin and
    • chondrocytes in cartilage

to make fresh structural collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. They act on the TGF-β/Smad pathways.

They signal cells to increase their own output rather than being used as building blocks.

    Types of Collagen

    • Marine collagen is mainly Type I collagen, the main collagen type found in skin, hair, nails, bones, tendons and ligaments.
    • Type III is more associated with bovine collagen and is also found in skin, joints and connective tissue

    Collagen Declines With Age

    • From the mid-twenties, the body produces roughly 1 to 1.5 per cent less of this structural protein annually.
    • By 40, production has dropped 20 to 30 per cent.
    • After menopause, the decline accelerates sharply, with women losing up to 30 per cent of skin-based protein in just five years.

UV exposure, smoking, sugar, and stress compound this natural slowdown.

Fine lines, joint stiffness, and brittle nails from the thirties onwards are visible signs of this process.

    How MSM Works

MSM or methylsulfonylmethane is a natural sulphur compound used in joint formulas for stiffness, movement and everyday joint wear.

    1. It Builds Tight Chemical Bonds

Sulphur is needed to build the strong bonds found in cartilage, tendons, ligaments and collagen structure. This is why MSM is often included in supplements for joints that feel stiff, creaky, overworked or slow to loosen out.

    2. It is an Anti-Inflammatory

MSM also works on the NF-kB pathway, one of the body’s main inflammation signalling pathways. When this pathway is overactive the body makes more inflammatory messengers such as:

    • TNF-alpha,
    • IL-6 and
    • prostaglandins.

MSM helps to quieten this signalling, which is why it is commonly used in joint products for wear-and-tear type discomfort and stiffness.

    3. Antioxidant Glutathione

It is linked with glutathione, one of the body’s main antioxidant systems. Because oxidative stress can add to joint irritation, especially after exercise, heavy use or long-term daily strain this effect can both relief joint damage and protect against it.

    Benefits of MSM

    1. Helps with stiff, creaky joints
    2. Useful when joints feel slow to loosen out
    3. Adds sulphur for cartilage, tendons, ligaments and collagen structure making it stronger.
    4. Works on the NF-kB inflammation pathway reducing inflammation and swelling in joints.
    5. Useful for active people, walkers, gym-goers or anyone on their feet all day

    How Glucosamine Works

Glucosamine is an amino sugar used to make the gel-like substances inside cartilage and joint fluid.

It feeds into a pathway called the hexosamine pathway, where the body turns it into UDP-GlcNAc.

    1. Making GAGs (Joint Cushioning Glycans)

This is then used to make glycosaminoglycans, or GAGs. GAGs include:

    • chondroitin sulphate,
    • keratan sulphate and
    • hyaluronic acid.

    These GAGs

    1. help cartilage hold water, stay springy and absorb pressure.
    2. help make proteoglycans, especially aggrecan. Aggrecan is one of the main molecules that gives cartilage its cushion-like structure.

Glucosamine helps supply raw material for the “shock absorber” part of joints.

    2. Anti Inflammatory Effect of Glucosamine

It also affects inflammatory signalling inside cartilage cells, called chondrocytes:

    • When joints are under stress, pathways such as NF-κB can switch on.
    • This can increase inflammatory chemicals such as IL-1β, TNF-α, COX-2 and PGE2.
    • These signals can also increase cartilage-breaking enzymes, including MMP-3, MMP-13, ADAMTS-4 and ADAMTS-5.
    • Glucosamine is thought to help turn down some of these signals, so the joint is not just breaking down cartilage faster than it can rebuild it.

    Benefits of Glucoamine

    1. Helps keep cartilage healthy and cushioned.
    2. Useful when joints feel stiff, creaky or worn.
    3. Helps cartilage hold water, which keeps it springier.
    4. Often chosen for knees, hips, hands and everyday joint wear and tear.
    5. Useful for people who exercise, walk a lot, or feel joints are not as comfortable as they used to be.

    Hyaluronic Acid

This is the chemical your skin and joints use to hold moisture. It is found naturally in your body. A single gram can hold up to six litres of water, which is why it is works so well for plumpness and hydration and lubricates joints.

Your body produces less hyaluronic acid as you age. Taking Hyaluronic acid Supplements doesn't just supply the HA to your Skin (Joints, Eyes etc) for it to use. It works in two ways:

    1. HA fragments are absorbed and used directly to hold water in skin and all connective tissue (even you eyes feel brighter!)

    2. HA also actually triggers to the body to make  more HA naturally. HA fragments may bind to CD44 receptors on fibroblasts, triggering pathways such as TGF-β/Smad, MAPK/ERK and HAS2 activity, which are involved in making the skin’s own hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin. Fibroblasts are collagen producing cells.

    Vitamin C

This is included in joint formulas because it is needed for normal collagen formation. Collagen gives the body key building blocks, but vitamin C is needed to make collagen fold is a strong and stable structure.

    1. Hydroxylation

The main pathway is collagen hydroxylation. This vitamin acts as a cofactor for the enzymes:

    • prolyl hydroxylase and
    • lysyl hydroxylase.

These enzymes help strengthen and stabilise new collagen fibres, which matters for cartilage, tendons, ligaments and the structure around joints.

    2. Antioxidant

Vitamin C also has an antioxidant role. Joints under pressure from exercise, age or daily wear can be exposed to oxidative stress. Vitamin C helps protect cells from this oxidative stress, making it a useful extra in a joint formula.

    Vitamin D3

This is useful in joint formulas because joints do not work on their own. Bones, muscles and joints all need to work together for easy movement.

    1. Vitamin D helps the body absorb and use calcium, which is important for normal bones. It also matters for normal muscle function.
    2. Vitamin D also plays a role in the immune system and inflammatory signalling

    Vitamin K2

This is included in joint and bone formulas because it helps the body use calcium properly.

    • Vitamin D3 helps the body absorb calcium.
    • Vitamin K2 then helps activate proteins that guide calcium into bone, especially osteocalcin and matrix GLA protein.

In simple terms, vitamin D helps get calcium in, while vitamin K2 helps put it where it is meant to go.

    • Take one sachet daily.
    • Mix with water, juice or a smoothie.
    • Use consistently. Joint supplements are not quick-fix products.

How long For Revive Active To Work

    • First 2 to 4 weeks: some people may notice less morning stiffness or easier movement, but it can be subtle.
    • 8 to 12 weeks: this is a more realistic window to judge a joint supplement properly, especially for collagen, glucosamine and MSM.
    • 12 weeks plus: best results usually come with daily use, movement, strength work and not stopping too early.

Give it 3 months before deciding.

Supplements to Take with Revive Active

    1. Omega 3: useful if joints feel stiff, overworked or inflamed. A good option if the person does not eat oily fish regularly.
    2. Magnesium: useful if muscle tightness, cramps or poor sleep are part of the picture.
    3. Vitamin D: only if extra is needed. This product already contains 20µg / 800IU, so avoid doubling up heavily.
    4. Calcium: only if diet is low in calcium or there is a bone-health reason. Not automatically needed for everyone.

    Do not stack blindly with

    Drug interactions Revive Joint Active

    • Warfarin or blood thinners: avoid unless doctor/pharmacist says it is suitable. This product contains glucosamine and vitamin K2, and both matter with warfarin
    • Diabetes medication: ask pharmacist first. Glucosamine may affect blood sugar in some people, so monitoring may be needed.
